THE JURORS
Peter Chamberlain: MFA, Professor of Art and Head
of the Expanded Arts Department at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Trained as a
sculptor and musician, Mr. Chamberlain has combined these areas via electronic media, and
he has been teaching and producing various forms of Electronic/Intermedia since 1976.
Victoria Gail-White: BFA, Art Reviewer for the Honolulu Advertiser. Ms. Gail-White is an
accomplished artist working in textiles and paper, whose work has been exhibited
nationally as well as internationally. For the past 15 years she has taught courses at
Temari and Pacific Fiber Arts. Previously, she was the proprietor of the Art Plantation
Gallery in Haleiwa.
Sarah E. Bremser McCormick: Assistant Professor of Art and Art History at the University
of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, as well as an independent curator and freelance
writer. She previously served as a curator at the Honolulu Academy of Arts and at the
Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. Ms. McCormick holds an MA in the History of Art
from the University of California at Berkeley.
THE AWARDS
Awards were chosen by the jurors and presented on May 9th at the artists reception. These include: Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, the Bill Dasher Award for Emerging Artists, the HonBlue Award, the Rainbow Photo Award for Excellence, and the Video Life Award for Creativity. An additional award, the Peoples Choice Award, sponsored by Hawaiian Graphics, will be chosen by the vote of gallery visitors throughout the exhibition. Through the Peoples Choice Award, we ask you to make your own voice known by voting for your personal favorite of the exhibited works. The results will be tallied on May 31st, then published and permanently archived on our web site.
